Mike Pinkowish has a diverse work history, starting as a Web Developer at KISS Computing in 2006. Mike then worked as a Temporary Front-end Developer at Time Inc. Interactive in 2007, where they documented the acquisition of Golf.com. In 2008, they became a Front-end Developer at Time Inc. Interactive, contributing to the redesign of RealSimple.com.
In 2009, Mike worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Google, specifically on the Google Earth Team. Mike assisted in the development of a web-based tool for broadcasters to create Google Earth tours.
Mike joined YouTube as a UX Intern in 2010, followed by an internship as a UIE Intern at Facebook later that year. Mike continued working at Facebook, starting as a User Interface Engineer in 2011, building data visualization interfaces. Mike later became an Engineering Manager, leading efforts in international advertiser growth and specializing in special advertising products. During this time, they were also responsible for the Ads Insights engineering team.
In 2018, Mike joined Gem as a Founding Engineer, working on productivity tools for sourcers and recruiters. Mike focused on hiring and growing the engineering team. Mike eventually became the Head of Engineering, collaborating with the CTO and Head of Product to set roadmap priorities and oversee project delivery.
Currently, Mike is the Head of Platform and Enterprise at Gem, a role they assumed in January 2022.
Mike Pinkowish attended Fordham Preparatory School from 2003 to 2007. After completing their high school education, they enrolled at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Mike studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2007 to 2011. In May 2017, Mike obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
