Karen Hoorn

Karen Hoorn is a seasoned architect and strategic advisor specializing in urban planning and architectural development. Since January 2023, Karen has been serving as a Strategic Advisor for Space at Gemeente Beuningen. Karen's career includes extensive experience as an architect at Hoorn Architect since 2002, with numerous projects focusing on feasibility studies and housing development for private clients. Prior to this, Karen contributed to the Groene Metropoolregio Arnhem-Nijmegen as the Spearhead Coordinator for Living Environment, collaborating with Wageningen University and Research on future-oriented environmental strategies. Additionally, Karen held various roles at Gemeente Rheden, including Urban Policy Advisor and Project Leader for the Environmental Vision, overseeing significant urban development and policy initiatives. Other positions include Senior Urban Planning Advisor at Gemeente Arnhem and significant contributions to various architectural firms since 1998. Karen holds a Master's degree in Architecture from the Academie van Bouwkunst and further qualifications in strategic advising from Bestuursacademie Nederland.
