Matthias Knolker

Head Technical Solutions Architect at General Atomics

Matthias Knolker is a highly skilled physicist with extensive experience in nuclear fusion research, currently serving as the Head Technical Solutions Architect at General Atomics since February 2016. In this role, Matthias drives the development of innovative solutions for fusion projects, provides technical support for the magnetic fusion energy program, and collaborates with various stakeholders in the fusion community. Previous positions include scientist focusing on tokamak pedestal stability, postdoctoral associate roles, and a PhD research on edge-localized modes under the supervision of Professor Harmut Zohm. Academic credentials encompass a PhD in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, a Master of Science from the Technical University of Munich, and a Bachelor of Science from the same institution. Additionally, Matthias has experience as a student researcher at UC San Diego and a working student at ITG Isotope Technologies Garching GmbH, as well as serving as a corporal in the German Airforce.
