Erika Spaeth has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Erika started their career as a Research Scientist at Quattromed in 2005. From 2006 to 2010, they worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Graduate Research Associate and later as a Postdoctoral Fellow. During this time, they focused on studying the interaction between tumor cells and stroma in the tumor microenvironment. Erika was also awarded a Department of Defense Predoctoral Fellowship.
In 2013, Spaeth joined Gene by Gene as a Quality and Regulatory Affairs specialist, responsible for ensuring the quality of molecular diagnostic services. Erika worked on the development and maintenance of regulatory operations and monitored the performance of quality and proficiency testing.
In 2016, they took on two roles simultaneously. Erika became the Research and Laboratory Director, as well as the Director of Operations at Stem Cell Reserve. At Stem Cell Reserve, Spaeth developed stem cell technology and oversaw laboratory processes. Erika also established laboratory policies and maintained knowledge of regulations pertaining to clinical stem cell therapies.
Also in 2016, Spaeth joined Phenogen Sciences, Inc. as the Director of Clinical Affairs and Medical Education. In this role, they focused on clinical affairs and medical education.
Most recently, in 2022, Spaeth joined GeneType as the Director of Clinical and Scientific Affairs. Here, they provide direction and support to commercialization channels by engaging with external stakeholders on the science behind the GTG product portfolio. Erika also coordinates product development improvements and clinical research opportunities with leading medical centers and academic institutions.
Overall, Spaeth has demonstrated a strong background in research, laboratory management, quality control, and clinical affairs in the healthcare industry.
Erika Spaeth holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Erika also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Connecticut. Additionally, they attended Choate Rosemary Hall.
