Rintaro Moriyasu

Staff Scientist at Genwest

Rintaro Moriyasu, PhD, currently serves as a Response Chemist at NOAA’s Office of Response & Restoration since November 2022, while also holding a position as Staff Scientist at Genwest Systems, Inc. since September 2022. Rintaro obtained a PhD in Ocean Sciences from the University of Southern California, where research concentrated on the biogeochemical cycling of trace metals and nutrients under the guidance of Dr. James Moffett from August 2017 to March 2022. Rintaro's academic experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant for biology and biochemistry lab courses at the University of Southern California, as well as working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant with Dr. Allison Calhoun at Whitman College on the characterization of Aragonite formation in Scleratinian Corals. Rintaro's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Whitman College and a High School Diploma from The Bay School of San Francisco.
