Yannai Segal

Yannai Segal has extensive work experience in the field of quantitative analysis and risk management. Yannai started their career at the University of Calgary as a Research Associate and Teaching Assistant, where they conducted research in various areas including mathematical modeling and simulation analysis. Yannai also assisted in the instruction of senior-level undergraduate courses and provided consulting services to SMED International.

After their time at the university, Yannai joined Direct Energy, where they held several managerial roles. Yannai modeled natural gas structuring and optimization activities, advised management on business strategy, and conducted ad-hoc data analysis. Yannai also developed and implemented an integrated hedging strategy to minimize portfolio risk and established a weather trading desk at Direct Energy.

Later on, Yannai worked at Cargill as a Quantitative Analyst, where they modeled natural gas structuring and optimization activities and managed proprietary trading and optimization of gas storage assets. Yannai also priced and executed transportation asset management agreements.

Yannai also served as a Trading and Risk Consultant at PetroChina International (Canada) Trading Ltd. through Enersoft/GeologicAI. In this role, they guided the implementation and strategy of the trading and risk system, audited system functionality, and conducted internal and external audits of trading book values.

Currently, Yannai is the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at GeologicAI, where they play a crucial role in shaping the company's strategic direction.

Yannai Segal has a strong educational background in engineering. Yannai earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Calgary between 1996 and 2000. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution between 2000 and 2003.

Before attending university, Yannai completed their high school education at Henry Wise Wood, where they obtained a High School Diploma with Honours from 1992 to 1996.

In addition to their academic degrees, Yannai has also obtained certification as a Certified Professional Engineer from the Association of Professional Geologists Geophysics and Engineers of Alberta (APEGGA). The specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
