Ilya Ilyankou has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and analysis. Ilya is currently working as a Data Engineer at GEOLYTIX since April 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as a Senior Data Analyst at the same company from April 2022 to April 2023.
Before joining GEOLYTIX, Ilya held various positions at the Connecticut Data Collaborative. From June 2018 to March 2022, they worked as a Civic Technologist, where they created interactive maps, data exploratory interfaces, and narratives using various tools such as Leaflet.js, Mapbox/MapLibre, React/Gatsby, Svelte, D3, QGIS, and Esri ArcGIS. Ilya also developed backend solutions for data projects using Flask, Postgres, AWS EC2, S3, and maintained a CKAN data repository. Additionally, they analyzed and visualized public data using Python (numpy, pandas, geopandas, matplotlib) and R (tidyr, ggplot2), and supported the 2020 US Census work for Connecticut.
Ilya's experience with data analysis and visualization started as a Data Visualization Intern at the Connecticut Data Collaborative from January 2018 to May 2018.
Ilya also has experience in a leadership role as the Club President of the Trinity College ACM Student Chapter from May 2017 to May 2018.
Furthermore, Ilya worked at Trinity College - Hartford, where they served as a Lead Student Technology Assistant from September 2014 to May 2018. Ilya also worked as a Summer Research Student from June 2017 to August 2017 and as a Teaching Assistant for TrinityX - Mobile Computing with App Inventor from January 2017 to May 2017.
Before their professional career, Ilya worked as a Lead Instructor at iD Tech Camps during the summer of 2016 and as an A100 Apprentice at Independent Software from March 2016 to May 2016.
Ilya Ilyankou began their education in 2012 when they attended UWC Adriatic - Collegio del Mondo Unito dell'Adriatico O.N.L.U.S. for high school, where they pursued the International Baccalaureate program. Following this, they enrolled at Trinity College-Hartford in 2014 and completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Studio Arts in 2018. In 2016, they spent a year as a visiting student at the University of Oxford, specializing in Computer Science. Ilya'sacademic journey continued at the University of Leeds from 2019 to 2022, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Geographical Information Science. Alongside their formal education, Ilya obtained additional certifications, including "Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Earth Monitoring" from EUMETSAT in November 2021, "A100 Certified Developer" from Independent Software in May 2016, and "AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner" from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2019.
