Michael Clemens is a Professor of Economics at George Mason University and a Non-Resident Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, both positions held since January 2023. Clemens has been a Research Fellow at IZA - Institute of Labor Economics since September 2014, and previously served as a Senior Fellow and Co-Director of the Migration, Displacement, and Humanitarian Policy Program at the Center for Global Development from August 2002 to January 2023. Clemens holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University (1997-2002), a Master of Science in Economics and Environmental Management from The Johns Hopkins University (1995-1997), and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Applied Science from Caltech (1990-1994).
