Mark Gates

Mark Gates has a diverse work experience in the field of smart energy, sales, and business development. Mark currently serves as the VP of Smart Energy, Business Development at geo (Green Energy Options) since October 2021. Prior to this, Mark worked as the Sales Director at Pycom from March 2021 to September 2021, where they played a key role in developing and promoting an IoT platform despite encountering funding challenges. From September 2015 to February 2021, they held the position of Commercial & Sales Director at Viva Labs, a start-up offering an AI-driven connected home SaaS platform. Here, Mark had full ownership of commercial functions, including sales, procurement, customer success, contract negotiation, and compliance. Before that, they worked as a Smart City & Infrastructure Sales Manager at Eseye from November 2013 to September 2015, contributing to the company's growth by securing contracts with large multinational companies. Mark also gained experience as a Business Development Manager Smart Cities Smart Grid at Digi International from February 2012 to November 2013, where they successfully executed the smart city sales strategy for the UK&I region and expanded their responsibilities to cover the Nordics and South Africa. Mark started their career as an Electrical Engineer at PD Teesport from November 2005 to October 2009.

Mark Gates attended Teesside University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a degree in Beng(Hons) in Electrical & Electronic engineering. Prior to university, they attended St Michaels RC, although no further details about this education are provided. In terms of additional certifications, Mark obtained Advanced Selling Skills and Professional Selling certifications from Pareto Law in April 2014.
