Cloud Architect, Public Sector at Gigamon

Carl Rios has a diverse work experience that spans several years. Their most recent role was as a Cloud Architect, Public Sector at Gigamon since May 2022.

Before that, they worked at Oracle starting in June 2018. During their time at Oracle, Carl held two positions. Firstly, they were a Cloud Engineer, primarily assisting DoD customers in modernizing their infrastructure and upgrading their data management platforms. Carl was assigned to US Army accounts and the fourth estate. Then, they became a Cloud Solutions Engineer, where they were responsible for designing and developing end-to-end solutions using cloud technologies for Oracle Key Accounts.

Prior to their career at Oracle, Carl served in the US Army. From September 2016 to June 2018, they worked as a Brigade Assistant S-4 (Logistics Staff Member) at the Warrior Transition Brigade - National Capital Region, providing transportation and facilities support to wounded warriors and staff. Carl also served as the Transportation Coordinator, overseeing over 500 missions and transporting over 4,000 wounded warriors and cadre cumulatively.

From January 2016 to June 2016, Carl held the position of Rear Detachment Company Commander (Unit Manager) for Anvil Company, 2-22 Infantry Battalion. Carl was in charge of 40 soldiers and $5 million worth of property. Carl improved personnel deployment readiness by 12% and developed a training plan for marksmanship.

Before becoming a Company Commander, Carl served as a Battalion Assistant Human Resources Officer, managing personnel administrative actions for a 500-soldier organization. Carl also acted as the Human Resources Officer for two months, leading a team of five human resource specialists and achieving significant improvements in performance metrics. Prior to that, Carl was a Platoon Leader (Unit Manager) in charge of training, managing, and leading a platoon of 39 soldiers in preparation for deployment to Iraq.

Carl's military career began in 2013 when they attended the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course as a student.

Overall, Carl Rios has demonstrated a diverse skill set and extensive experience in cloud architecture, engineering, logistics, management, and leadership.

Carl Rios has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in International History with a Thesis, which they obtained from the United States Military Academy at West Point between 2009 and 2013. In 2018, they earned a Certificate in Data Science from Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.

In addition to their formal education, Carl Rios has obtained several certifications. Carl holds the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft, which they obtained in September 2022. Carl also obtained the Learning VMware vSphere certification from LinkedIn in July 2022. In June 2022, they achieved the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Furthermore, Carl holds various certifications from Oracle. These include the Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud 2019 Certified Specialist certification obtained in July 2019, the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2018 Certified Architect Associate certification obtained in June 2019, and the Oracle Global Human Resources Cloud 2018 Certified Implementation Specialist certification obtained in February 2019. Carl also obtained the Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud 2020 Certified Specialist certification in March 2021 and the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2020 Certified Architect Associate certification in January 2021.

Finally, Carl Rios has completed several LinkedIn courses and certifications. These include the Learning Data Science: Ask Great Questions certification obtained in January 2018, the Learning Data Science: Understanding the Basics certification obtained in October 2017, and the LinkedIn for Veterans certification received in September 2017.
