Julian Lamy, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning from 2008 to the present. In 2008, they began their career as an Associate in the Energy Practice at Charles River Associates. In 2013, they moved to EDF Renewable Energy as a Marine Renewables Analyst, where they led due diligence and negotiations on a deal to purchase partial ownership of a 6 MW tidal stream energy project in the U.K. In 2015, they were a Summer Scholar at ARPA-E, leading business development efforts to help ARPAE-funded battery technologies secure financing for pilot-phase testing. In 2016, they co-founded and became the CEO of WattLearn. In 2017, they became the Manager of Energy Systems Optimization at EDF Store & Forecast. From 2018 to 2022, they worked at Tesla, first as a Senior Optimization Software Engineer, developing algorithms for an AI-driven trading platform, and then as Manager of Autobidder Operations, responsible for delivering >$100M in annual revenue through automated trading in wholesale energy markets. Currently, they are the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at gigElev.
Julian Lamy, PhD obtained a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University in 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics & Economics from the University of Maryland in 2008.
