Melanie Sullivan

Melanie Sullivan has extensive work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Melanie currently serves as the Head of Finance at Girlguiding, a position they have held since September 2019. Melanie is also a Trustee for THE DOROTHY KERIN TRUST since February 2019.

Prior to their current roles, Sullivan worked as a Financial Controller at Comic Relief from July 2016 to August 2019. In this role, they were responsible for financial governance, managing financial systems, statutory accounts, and leading a team of twelve.

Before joining Comic Relief, Sullivan worked at Concern Worldwide from September 2012 to June 2016, first as a Country Financial Controller and then as a Regional Accountant. Melanie also served as a Mentor at The Aspire Foundation from August 2013 to August 2014.

Sullivan has also held positions as a Trustee and Deputy Treasurer at National Deaf Children's Society from January 2008 to September 2012, and as a Senior Finance Manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust from August 2009 to May 2012.

Earlier in their career, Sullivan worked as a Senior International Accountant at Christian Aid from March 2000 to July 2009. Melanie began their career as an Accountant at David A Herridge from December 1995 to February 2000, where they were responsible for preparing statutory accounts, VAT returns, and annual audits.

Sullivan's earliest role was as a Group Accountant at Simon Storage Group from August 1988 to November 1995. In this role, they were responsible for financial consolidation, annual statutory accounts, and acted as Company Secretary for an Irish subsidiary and trade association.

Melanie Sullivan's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Maths and Management Science from the University of Kent, which they obtained between 1981 and 1984. Melanie also completed a Diploma in International Financial Reporting from ACCA in 2005. In 2003 and 2004, they pursued further qualifications in the field of Training Practice, obtaining a Certificate in Training Practice from CIPD Qualifications. In 2017, Melanie attended Cass Business School, where they studied Charity Investment Theory & Practice.
