Barbara Smith

Barbara Smith is a Program Manager for Student Support at Girls Who Code since August 2022. Previously, Barbara held the role of Project Manager at I Challenge Myself, where responsibilities included assessing program implementation and enhancing curriculum for a sports-based youth program. Barbara also served as a 9th grade Biology and Physics teacher at East Side Community High School for nearly a decade, focusing on project-based learning and curriculum development. Experience as a Cycling Coach at East Side Community High School involved creating summer experiences for student engagement and leading cycling classes. Additional roles include a Coding Instructor at Generation Code and a Lab Technician at Yeshiva University, along with a Research Assistant position at Adelphi University. Education includes a Master of Arts in Science Education from New York University, a Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Microbiology from Adelphi University, an Associate of Science in Biology from Miami Dade College, and a bilingual high school degree with a focus on biology.
