Tarika Barrett

Tarika Barrett is the CEO of Girls Who Code, a non-profit organization that aims to support and increase the number of women in technology. Tarika is also a board member for Homeland Security Advisory Council, AT&T's Accelerator Advisory Board, and McGraw Hill. Prior to their current position, they served as the Chief Program Officer for iMentor and the Senior Director for Multiple Pathways to Graduation in the Office of Postsecondary Readiness for the NYC Department of Education, where they led the team that designed The Academy for Software Engineering.

Tarika Barrett has a PhD in Teaching and Learning from New York University, an MA in Deaf Education from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a BA in Political Science from Brooklyn College. Tarika is certified by the NYC DOE to teach deaf and hearing impaired students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
