Mat Appelman

Mat Appelman is a highly experienced principal engineer at GitLab, focusing on integrating Opstrace with The DevOps Platform to enhance open-source observability since December 2021. As a co-founder of Opstrace, Inc., Appelman has contributed to secure and cost-effective observability solutions since May 2019. With a strong background in engineering management, Appelman has previously held senior roles at Mesosphere, leading the development of Kubernetes and data services, and worked at Insight Global, VMware, and 500 Black Sheep in various engineering capacities. Educational credentials include an S19 from Y Combinator, a Computer Science course on Algorithms from Stanford University, and advanced degrees in Engineering Management and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury.
