Kevin Shin has a long and varied work experience. Kevin started their career in 1998 as a Network System Administrator at ICE Integrated Communications & Entertainment, Inc. Kevin then went on to work at the Canadian Gas Research Institute in 1999 as a Controls Development, where they developed programming firmware and logic structures in C to implement control strategies. Kevin also worked at Nortel Networks in 1999 as a Hardware Development, where they created GUI time-switch mapping software for Nortel CallPilot PCI cards and wrote DSP BERT Diagnostic software in C++ for system and voiceblock transmission verification. In 2001, they worked at both IBM and Leitch Technology. At IBM, they were a Compiler Optimization Developer, where they designed address simplification and switch-to-table conversion code optimization algorithms in C++, and fixed bugs in the optimizer, correcting C and FORTRAN code generation defects. At Leitch Technology, they were an Embedded Software Engineer, where they developed Neo Resource Card device communications, discovery, configuration, and alarm monitoring services. In 2009, they were the CTO and Co-Founder at Suitebase, Inc. Finally, from 2012 to present, they have been the Cofounder at Giveffect.

Kevin Shin is currently enrolled in YCombinator. Previously, they completed Mandarin Language Training at National Taiwan Ocean University and obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
