Gordon Smith, ScD, MBA has a diverse and extensive work experience. Gordon is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Global Advanced Metals since February 2019. Prior to that, they founded and served as the President of Cobalt Growth Partners, LLC, a specialty boutique consulting firm that focuses on providing strategic solutions and consulting services for middle market acquisitions, divestitures, and sales, as well as intellectual property portfolios and operational improvements.
From 2008 to 2017, Gordon worked at GSI Technologies where they held the position of General Manager / Chief Technology Officer. During their tenure, they were responsible for the contract manufacturing division and led initiatives in sales, marketing, business development, and engineering. Gordon also played a key role in analyzing business combinations, acquisitions, and angel investments, ultimately executing the sale of GSI Technologies to two strategic buyers.
Before GSI Technologies, Gordon worked at Brady Corporation as the Director of Materials Development from 2005 to 2008. Gordon led a team focused on delivering coated film products, specialty components, labeling solutions, and safety products in various industries.
From 2001 to 2005, Gordon was employed by DSM where they held two different roles. As the Technical Director of Stereolithographic Materials, they were tasked with revitalizing a $10-$20 million per annum 3D printing materials business. Additionally, as the Technical Director of New Business Development, they managed a team developing UV curable products for various industries.
Gordon's career started at Honeywell in 1996, where they worked as a Product Development Manager and Six Sigma Black Belt. Gordon then transitioned to 3M as a Senior Manufacturing Technology Engineer from 1992 to 1996. Gordon also had the opportunity to be a MIT MSCEP Student at both GE and Chevron in 1989.
