Pearly Joubert is an accomplished research assistant currently involved in several prominent initiatives, including the South African Stroke Acupuncture study at the UCT Neuroscience Institute and the Face Brain Study. Pearly is recognized for leadership as the Head of Women in SynBio Africa, promoting the inclusion of women in synthetic biology across Africa. As a President of the UCT SWEEP Chapter, Pearly focuses on empowering female student entrepreneurs, while also acting as a GBR Ambassador and a mentee at World Women in Neuroscience, prioritizing career development for women in scientific fields. With a solid educational background in Neuroscience and Physiology from the University of Cape Town, and ongoing studies in business and innovation, Pearly actively contributes to various programs such as the FuturizeU Incubator Program and the Gatsby Bridging Program at UCL, showcasing a commitment to bridging gaps within healthcare and technology sectors. Additionally, involvement in engineering innovative solutions like the AbantuArm for stroke rehabilitation highlights Pearly's dedication to practical applications of scientific research.
