Charles Wandia is a data scientist with over six years of experience in various financial institutions. charles started their career in 2014 as a Business Risk Analyst in Equity Bank Limited where they conducted risk analysis on market risk, credit risk, and operational risk. Later in 2016, they worked at Bank of Africa as an Enterprise Risk Analytics Lead, focused on developing and implementing ERM framework, policies, and procedures. charles then moved to CBA Group in 2017 where they worked as a Data Scientist before joining NCBA Group in 2019 as Senior Data Scientist in charge of CBA Loop and Stawi. Among their notable achievements was developing credit scorecards for Stawi, a product designed to provide credit to SMES. Wandia joined Carbon as a Senior Data Scientist-Risk in 2020, where they developed income verification models and credit scorecards for the Nigeria and Kenya markets. charles later joined Stanbic Bank in 2022 as Senior Manager-Digital Lending, where they expanded the scored lending capability to secure products such as vehicle financing. Currently, they are the Head of Data Science at gnuGrid CRB since 2023.

Charles Wandia obtained a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Nairobi in 2010. From 2014 to 2016, they attended Vision Institute where they pursued CPA. In 2021, they enrolled in the University of East London for an MSc in Data Science with a field of study in Data Science. Additionally, Charles has obtained numerous certifications from institutions such as LinkedIn and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) in areas such as data analytics, finance, risk management, and customer experience.
