Michael Wawra

Michael Wawra has a diverse work experience spanning over 18 years. 🎸 Michael is currently serving as the Director of Engineering at GoCardless, where they took on this role in November 2021. Prior to this position, they held the role of Senior Engineering Manager at the same company for a year and a half, from June 2020 to November 2021. 🎸 Michael started their journey with GoCardless as an Engineering Manager in July 2018 and continued in this position for two years.

Before joining GoCardless, Michael worked as the Head of Engineering at MetalHub from August 2017 to July 2018. 🎸 Michael was responsible for leading the engineering team during their tenure. Prior to that, they served as a Delivery Manager and Developer at dxw from December 2015 to August 2017.

Prior to that, they worked as a Senior .Net Developer at Eviivo from November 2009 to May 2010, focusing on development activities for e-commerce booking systems. 🎸 Michael also worked as an Analyst Programmer at Norton Rose LLP from January 2009 to November 2009, working on an internationalization project.

Michael began their career at Dow Jones, where they served as a Senior Consultant from September 2003 to December 2008. 🎸 Michael played a crucial role in application development, leading teams, and managing projects using technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.

Throughout their career, Michael has gained expertise in engineering management, software development, project management, and client-facing roles.

Michael Wawra began their education in 2000, when they attended Oxford Brookes University. 🎸 Michael studied Software Engineering and completed their BSc (Hons) degree in 2001. Subsequently, from 2007 to 2009, they enrolled at London Metropolitan University and pursued a degree in Law, specifically a CPE degree.
