Lisel Newton

Lisel Newton has over 11 years of experience in risk management, information security, and compliance. Lisel'smost recent role was as Senior Director of Information Security, Risk, and Compliance at Gossamer Bio, where they were responsible for cybersecurity, incident response, and managed security services. Prior to that, they served as Senior Director of Risk Management at Zovio, overseeing information security, data privacy, and incident resolution. Lisel also held multiple positions at Bridgepoint Education, including Senior Director of Risk Management and Manager of IT Compliance and Identity Access Management. Lisel has experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance, vendor evaluation, and regulatory oversight. Lisel's earlier experience includes roles at KPMG as a Manager, where they provided external and internal audit support, and at various organizations as an Office Assistant, Student, IT Advisory Intern, Medical and Radiology Transcriptionist, and Accounting Associate. Throughout their career, Lisel has demonstrated a strong ability to manage risk and compliance programs, implement security measures, and oversee incident response and remediation.

Lisel Newton obtained their education from several institutions. From 2004 to 2008, they attended Montana State University-Northern, where they earned an Associate of Science degree in Business. Following this, from 2008 to 2010, they attended the University of Montana and The University of Montana - College of Business, simultaneously pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on Management Information Systems, Accounting, and Business.

In addition to their formal education, Lisel Newton has obtained several certifications. In 2014, they received the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification from ISACA. In 2018, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from ISC2. Most recently, in March 2021, they obtained the Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) certification from ISACA.
