Toby Darbyshire has a diverse work experience spanning various companies and roles. In 2010, they co-founded and served as CEO of Engensa, a major home energy company in the UK, where they pioneered residential solar finance. Engensa was later acquired by Hanergy in May 2013. From 2013 to 2014, Darbyshire served as Co-CEO of Hanergy Mobile Energy Holding Group, leading the development of an IKEA solar proposition. In 2015, they co-founded and became CEO of Heist, an innovative global underwear brand that utilizes material science and technological innovation. Heist raised $10 million in funding and is stocked in leading department stores worldwide. Darbyshire also served as Chairman of the Board at Heist from 2020 to 2021. Other notable roles include being a Director at THE STREET BY STREET SOLAR PROGRAMME LIMITED from 2011 to 2018 and serving as Interim COO at VOYLOK, a sustainable footwear brand, from 2021 to 2022. Toby has also worked as a Mentor at Seedcamp, an Angel investor, and as a Board Advisor at Net Zero Company. Toby Darbyshire's recent work experience includes being an Entrepreneur in Residence at Carbon13 and currently serving as the Interim Chief Operations Officer at Supercritical.

Toby Darbyshire earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in History from the University of Cambridge from the years 2000 to 2004.
