As a serial entrepreneur and telecom executive, Peter Karoczkai is known for bringing ideas to life. His more than 25 years of experience are distinguished for sales, marketing, and technical achievements. He has led several companies to invent and launch products and services that have catapulted them to the forefront of their markets. Working in both emerging and Fortune 20 companies, Peter has been a consistent top performer in roles that demanded results far from the status quo. He began his career marketing computer networks and services for technology companies before transitioning to the telecommunications industry.
Prior to founding Gotham Cloud, Peter was the EVP of Sales and Marketing at Transbeam, Inc, a mid-size telecommunications carrier and IT Managed Service Provider based in New York City. Peter has led the expansion of the company from a small New York-based provider to a nationwide IT Networks and telecom company that was eventually sold to GTT Communications (www.gtt.net) in 2017. During his tenure at Transbeam, Peter has worked with hundreds of enterprise customers to implement state-of-the-art networks around the country and the globe.
Prior to Transbeam, Peter served as Mutualink, Inc.’s CEO (www.mutualink.net). Mutualink is an IP-based multimedia solution that connects wireless and wireline telephone, video and 2-way radio (push-to-talk) networks for public safety agencies. The company pioneered community-wide interoperability for emergency management and has expanded globally since its startup days.
From 1999 to 2006, Peter served as InfoHighway Communications’ SVP of Sales and Marketing. Instrumental in growing annual revenues from $9 million to $105 million, he led the company’s marketing and sales functions including new product development, product management, pricing and distribution, and direct and indirect sales channel management. Peter was also responsible for key regulatory and business development initiatives.
Before joining InfoHighway, Peter was Vice President, Marketing and Product Management for Verizon’s (previously Bell Atlantic Corporation) wholesale division, with revenues of over $1 billion in 1999. In this position, Peter developed and managed key wholesale products, such as UNE-P, local loops, DSL, collocation, shared transport and many more. Prior to Verizon Wholesale Markets, Peter was the Director of Channel Marketing for Verizon Wireless (formerly NYNEX Mobile Communications), managing its reseller channel and developing channel strategy for the company’s agent, direct, and telemarketing distribution. He grew the wireless customer base from 100,000 to 1 million accounts and increased wholesale revenues from $20 million to $150 million.
Peter received his BS in Marketing Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and his MBA in Marketing and International Management from New York University. An active member in professional organizations, he was the chairman of the Washington, DC-based telecommunications industry group, the PACE Coalition dedicated to ensuring the availability and competitive carrier platform across the United States, and a founder of local service council and user group COMPTEL.
