Arif Virani serves as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General in the Government of Canada since July 2023, following a tenure as Member of Parliament for Parkdale-High Park since October 2015. Virani's parliamentary roles include serving as Parliamentary Secretary to various ministers across trade, justice, democratic institutions, Canadian heritage, and immigration. Prior experience includes working as Counsel in the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, focusing on constitutional law, and an Assistant Trial Attorney at the United Nations' International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. With a background in human rights from the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative and litigation at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, Virani's legal training includes a prestigious year at The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. Educational qualifications comprise a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from McGill University.
