Makoto Uchida

Makoto Uchida is a highly experienced software engineer with extensive expertise in machine learning, data analytics, and cloud technologies. Currently serving as an Engineering Resident at Gradient Ventures, Uchida operates at a Principal level within a portfolio startup, focusing on backend systems, developer infrastructure, and machine learning. At Google since 2016, Uchida has held various roles including Staff Software Engineer leading the development of the Cloud AI Platform and as a Senior Software Engineer contributing to Google Brain's TensorFlow Extended. Previous positions include Data Scientist at CapitalG, Quantitative Marketing Manager at Google, and a JSPS Research Fellow at The University of Tokyo. Uchida holds a Ph.D. in Computation Science from The University of Tokyo, where studies concentrated on complex systems.
