Roham Razaghi has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and genomics. Roham'smost recent role is as a Bioinformatics Scientist at GRAIL since October 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a PhD Candidate at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from July 2017 to October 2022. In this role, they developed computational methods for investigating alternative splicing, polyadenylation, RNA modification, and RNA secondary structure using long-read sequencing data. Roham also led collaborations and developed assays for profiling methylation, chromatin accessibility, and lamina associated domains using third-generation sequencing. Additionally, Roham served as an Instructor and Head TA from January 2019 to October 2020.
In 2021, Roham briefly worked at Gilead Sciences as a Bioinformatics Data Scientist, where they collaborated on multi-omics analyses of biomarker data and developed analysis pipelines for single-cell RNA sequencing and viral integration detection.
In 2020-2021, Roham co-founded and co-chaired the JHU BME Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, with the aim of promoting more equitable and diverse communities within the biomedical engineering department.
Roham's early work experience includes a role as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of California, San Diego - Jacobs School of Engineering from November 2015 to May 2017. During this time, they contributed to projects involving the development of a light-controllable genetic switch, mentoring a senior Bioengineering design group, and using machine learning techniques to predict emotional states.
Overall, Roham Razaghi has a strong background in bioinformatics, genomics, and interdisciplinary collaborations, with significant contributions to computational methods development, laboratory techniques optimization, and research project management.
Roham Razaghi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, which was obtained from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Roham completed their PhD program between the years 2017 and 2022. Prior to that, Roham earned their Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from UC San Diego, where they attended from 2014 to 2017. Roham began their higher education at Fresno City College, where they completed an Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2012 to 2014.
