Suba Srinivasan

Suba Srinivasan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Suba is currently an Associate Director of Bioinformatics at GRAIL, a role they have held since August 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Staff Scientist of Bioinformatics at GRAIL from January 2021 to August 2022.

Before joining GRAIL, Suba worked at Auris Health, Inc, which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson. At Auris Health, they held various positions, including Staff Data Engineer in Robotics & Digital Solutions from October 2019 to December 2020, Staff Research Engineer from January 2018 to October 2019, and Senior Research Engineer from February 2017 to December 2017.

Suba's academic background includes positions at Stanford University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). At Stanford University, they served as an SCIT Postdoctoral Research Fellow from August 2014 to February 2017. During this time, they worked on developing an augmented reality application for surgical planning and various imaging techniques for breast tumor classification and monitoring chemotherapy response.

At UCLA, Suba earned their PhD in Biomedical Engineering as a Graduate Researcher in Radiological Sciences from September 2010 to June 2014. Their research focused on the development of fast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) sequences for different medical imaging applications, resulting in several journal articles, conference abstracts, and patents.

Suba also gained industry experience as a Research Intern at Siemens Corporate Research from June 2011 to September 2011 and as an ESKAS Scholar at ETH Zurich from September 2009 to June 2010.

Earlier in their career, Suba worked as a Research Scholar at Harvard Medical School (BIDMC) from December 2009 to May 2010, where they developed an MRI pulse sequence for 3D free breathing whole heart black blood imaging. Suba also worked as a Research Scholar at University College London from June 2009 to August 2009.

Suba's work experience also includes a role as a Senior Software Engineer at D. E. Shaw & Co. from 2006 to 2008, although specific dates are not provided.

Throughout their career, Suba has published numerous articles, abstracts, and patents, and has received awards such as the ISMRM Summa Cum Laude Award and ISMRM Junior Fellow.

Suba Srinivasan completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from GCT Coimbatore, Anna University, from 2002 to 2006. Suba pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zürich from 2008 to 2010. Subsequently, they attended UCLA from 2010 to 2014 to obtain their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in Signal and Image Processing. Following this, they joined Stanford University as an SCIT Post Doctoral Fellow in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, where they studied from 2014 to 2017. In addition to their formal education, they completed a Deep Learning Specialization certificate from Coursera in May 2018.
