Wei Liang

Wei Liang has a diverse work experience in the field of biostatistics. They are currently working as a Biostatistical Director at GRAIL since March 2023. Prior to that, they served as an Associate Biostatistical Director - Data Science and Biostatistics at GRAIL from June 2021 to March 2023.

Before joining GRAIL, Wei Liang worked at Nektar Therapeutics as an Associate Director, Data Science and Systems from August 2019 to May 2021. They also held the position of Sr Manager Biostatistics at Acerta Pharma (A member of the AstraZeneca Group) from March 2018 to July 2019.

Earlier in their career, Wei Liang worked at Jazz Pharmaceuticals as a Manager Biostatistics from February 2017 to March 2018 and as a Senior Biostatistician from February 2015 to February 2017.

They also gained valuable experience at Philips as a Biostatistician III from January 2014 to February 2015. During their time at Philips, they collaborated on multiple PMA and 510K projects, contributed to study design and statistical analysis plans for various clinical research protocols, and conducted statistical analyses in support of regulatory submissions.

Wei Liang's work experience extends to their time at the University of Southern California, where they served as a Research Assistant from September 2008 to December 2013. They worked on developing a Bayesian hierarchical model for pooled design using Next-Generation Sequencing data and contributed to the validation and power analysis of such designs. Additionally, they developed a freely available R package called R/hiPOD for optimal design searches. They also participated in various course projects, including designing a clinical trial study with interim monitoring, implementing various machine learning algorithms, and contributing to the development of a multi-programming distributed operating system. They also worked as a Teaching Assistant during their time at the university.

Wei Liang received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology from Peking University, which spanned from 2003 to 2007. Wei then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biostatistics from the University of Southern California, completing their studies from 2008 to 2013.
