Susan Nelson is an accomplished vocalist and educator with extensive experience in teaching and music direction. Since August 2017, Susan has served as an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Concordia University Chicago, providing private lessons and reinforcing music theory across various genres. As the Music Director at Grace Lutheran Church Mt. Prospect since March 2016, Susan oversees the adult choir, selects hymns, and contributes to Sunday services. Additionally, Susan teaches private voice lessons at Providence St. Mel School and serves as an Outreach Teacher for Music of the Baroque in underserved high schools. A long-time member of the Grant Park Chorus since 2004, Susan performs in concerts and often takes solo roles. Other roles include Freelance Soprano, Assistant Music Director, and Soprano Section Leader at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, along with significant contributions to educational outreach through organizations such as Opera for the Young. Susan holds a Master’s degree in Music from Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
