John MacFarlane has extensive work experience in the gaming and hospitality industry. Their most recent role is as Vice President - Hospitality Operations at Great Canadian Gaming Corporation since 2021. Prior to that, they held several leadership positions at OLG, including Vice President, Land Based Gaming from 2014 to 2020, Senior Vice President - Gaming in 2015, and Vice President - Gaming Modernization in 2014. Before joining OLG, they served as Executive Director - Gaming Transition and Regional Gaming Director at OLG from 2006 to 2014. Additionally, they have held management positions at Casino Nova Scotia Hotel and Casino Nova Scotia. In their earlier career, they worked in various roles at Sheraton Casino Sydney, Sheraton Halifax Hotel, Sheraton Grand Hotel, and Sheraton Fredericton.
John MacFarlane earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA) from St. Francis Xavier University. John also completed an Executive Leadership Program at the Ivey Business School at Western University in 2014. In addition, they underwent an Executive Development Program with a focus on casinos at the University of Nevada, Reno.
