Karen Macrae has over 15 years of work experience in finance roles. From 2006 to 2017, they worked at Manchester City Council, where they held positions such as Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager, and Principal Finance Manager. In 2017, they joined the Greater Manchester Combined Authority as a Principal Accountant and later took on the role of Finance Lead for the Police and Crime department. Currently, they serve as the Head of Finance (Corporate and Technical) for the organization.
Karen Macrae attended City of Sunderland College from 1993 to 1995. However, the degree or field of study they pursued during this time is unknown. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Glasgow from 1995 to 1997, where they obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Management. In February 2012, Karen Macrae obtained a certification as a Chartered Accountant from the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants.
