Heiko Schilling has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Heiko began their career as a Freelancer & Consultant at Deutsche Telekom AG in 1999, where they provided risk assessment and management of potential Y2K issues and managed Y2K software rollouts. Heiko then worked as a Freelancer & Consultant at Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund, supporting a Unix/Cisco network infrastructure and providing IT support.

In 2001, Heiko joined TU Berlin as a Research Assistant, focusing on developing algorithms for road networks and traffic management to reduce congestion. Heiko positively directed grant applications during their time there. Following that, they became a Partner & Consultant at Algorithmic Consultants, where they delivered consulting services to automotive and other industries by collaborating with algorithm experts.

In 2007, Heiko joined TomTom and held various roles, including Head of Navigation, VP Software Engineering and Fellow, Distinguished Software Engineer. Heiko contributed to the implementation of the routing algorithm developed in their PhD thesis, spearheaded teams for software delivery, and submitted multiple patents. Heiko remained at TomTom until 2020.

From 2017 to 2021, Heiko served as an Advisory Board Member at NAVA, a city exploration app developed by two students in Munich. In 2018, they became a Technology Advisory Board Member at Gousto, a British meal kit retailer.

In 2020, Heiko joined Amazon as the Leader of the International Tech Expansion team, responsible for building a global, localized shopping experience. After two years, they transitioned to Stellantis in 2022, where they are excited to take on a role that directly tackles the climate crisis.

Additionally, in 2022, Heiko took on the position of Non-Executive Director at Greater Than, a role that is ongoing.

Throughout their career, Heiko Schilling has gained expertise in technology, consulting, algorithm development, and leadership.

Heiko Schilling completed their education at various institutions. Heiko obtained a GCSE equivalent degree in Mathematics & Physics from Polytechnical School Effelder, Eichsfeld, from 1980 to 1988. Heiko then attended Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, Specialized School part on Mathematics and Computer Science, where they earned their Abitur (A-Levels equivalent) in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics from 1988 to 1992.

Heiko Schilling furthered their education at The University of Göttingen from 1993 to 2000, where they earned a Dipl.-Math degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. During their time at Göttingen, they also had the opportunity to be a Visiting Student at the University of Oxford in 1997 and 1998, where they followed a Master's course in Computation.

In 2001, Heiko Schilling pursued a PhD at Technische Universität Berlin, specializing in Vehicle Routing, Logistics, and Transport Optimization. Heiko successfully completed their doctoral studies in 2006.

Heiko Schilling also engaged in research work during their academic journey. In 2004, they conducted a Research Visit at the Theoretical Computer Science Group of ETH Zürich.

To complement their education, Heiko Schilling pursued an Executive MBA at the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge from 2014 to 2016.

Additionally, Heiko Schilling obtained several certifications. In June 1998, they received the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English from the University of Cambridge. Heiko also completed the Briggs-Meyers personality test twice, in 2015 and 2017, resulting in the personality types ESTP and ENTP, respectively.
