Kenton Friesen

Kenton Friesen has extensive experience in various roles related to business continuity, emergency management, and disaster management.

Kenton'smost recent position was as the Director of Global Business Continuity Risk Management (BCRM) at London Life / Great-West Lifeco Inc. In this role, they oversaw the BCRM department, which included emergency response, incident management, business continuity, and technology resiliency.

Before that, Kenton worked as a Program Manager for Business Continuity Management (BCM) at the Royal Canadian Mint. Kenton'sresponsibilities included developing and implementing BCM programs.

Kenton also held the position of Senior Business Continuity Coordinator for the Business Continuity Management Program (BCMP) at Manitoba Public Insurance, where they worked for almost ten years.

Kenton has additional experience in emergency management, serving as the Emergency Management Coordinator at the University of Manitoba and as the Coordinator for Community Disaster Management in the Disaster Management Program (DMP) at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA).

Earlier in their career, Kenton worked as a Project Coordinator and Emergency Management Specialist at Dillon Consulting Limited, focusing on geographic information systems (GIS) analysis. Kenton also served as a GIS Analyst at Mobray Business Solutions / Werner Research.

Kenton began their career as a student intern at the Manitoba Emergency Management Organization (EMO).

Kenton Friesen graduated from The University of Winnipeg in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Geography and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Business Computing. Kenton then attended the UWinnipeg PACE from 2019 to 2021, where they obtained a Canadian Risk Management (CRM) certification from the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI) and the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). In 2023, they also obtained a CRM certification from Seneca Polytechnic. Kenton Friesen completed their high school education at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate in 1992. Kenton has further certifications, including Fellow from the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), Mental Health First Aid Standard (Virtual) from the Mental Health Commission of Canada, PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer (LI) from PECB, Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) from the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) from DRI International (Disaster Recovery Institute), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers, and Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) from DRI International.
