Alex Bales has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Alex began their career as a Backcountry Trail Worker for the California Conservation Corps in 2007. Alex then went on to work as a Backcountry Trail Worker for the National Park Service in 2008 and 2009. In 2010, they transitioned to a Biological Science Technician role with the National Park Service, and later served as a Backcountry Trail Worker again in 2012. From 2013 to 2017, Alex worked at the Michigan Technological University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Lab Technician. Alex also gained experience as a Biological Science Technician for the National Park Service during this time. Alex then joined the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a Research Fellow in 2017, before taking on the role of Lab Manager at Green Thumb Industries (GTI) in 2018, where they are currently employed.
Alex Bales pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, with a specialization in Ecology, from Purdue University Northwest. This educational endeavor spanned from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, Alex enrolled at Michigan Technological University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Plant Ecology and Evolution, from 2013 to 2015.
