Gus de Silva Wheeler

Gus de Silva Wheeler has a diverse work experience that spans across various industries. Gus currently works at Griffin as a Product Lead, focusing on Banking & Payments. Prior to this, they held multiple roles at Thought Machine, including Product Manager, Senior Business Analyst, and Business Development in Product Partnerships and Engineering Programme Management. At Thought Machine, they played a crucial role in the implementation and product management of Vault, the core banking system. Gus also built strategic partnerships and integrations, one of which was instrumental in securing the company's first major client, Lloyds Banking Group. Before joining Thought Machine, Gus had an internship at Google where they worked on the launch of Android One phone in Nigeria and wider Africa. Gus managed project coordination, developed product training, and integrated student ambassadors and developer communities into launch activities. Additionally, they conducted a web analytics project for Android.com to assess usage across Europe. Prior to that, Gus had a summer internship at the Bank of England, gaining an understanding of the economy and financial markets from a regulatory perspective. Gus also participated in various meetings, conferences, and seminars related to economics. Early in their career, they had an internship at Paul Chuah & Co., gaining insights into the business culture of Malaysia.

Gus de Silva Wheeler holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Political Economy with a concentration in Economics from King's College London. In addition to their degree, they have obtained certifications in Introduction to SQL from Codecademy (2016), CS50x: Introduction to Computer Science from Harvard University (2015), and Introduction to Python from Codecademy (2014).
