Matt Malone

Matt Malone is the current CEO and owner of GroundWorks. Matt has over 18 years of experience in the environmental and staffing industries. Prior to their current position, they were the owner and chairman of Shipyard Staffing, LLC and PetroChem Recovery Services, Inc.

Malone founded PetroChem Recovery Services, Inc. in 1982 as a full-service environmental company to the Mid-Atlantic region. The company provided emergency response, industrial services, transportation, disposal, and remediation services to a wide array of clients. In 2014, Malone sold PetroChem to focus on Shipyard Staffing.

Shipyard Staffing was formed by the acquisition of Virginia division of Capital Consultants, Inc. (CCI). CCI is a Louisiana-based specialty marine staffing firm focused on providing skilled trade personnel to the ship repair and ship construction industry. Initially founded in 2001, Shipyard Staffing offers short-term, long-term and permanent placement to a wide array of clients, including General Dynamics NASSCO, BAE, Huntington Ingalls Industries, NSC, QED Systems and many more. CCI's talent includes skilled tradesman, experienced professionals, college-level management and upper management.

In November 2020, Malone sold Shipyard Staffing to focus on their new company, GroundWorks. GroundWorks is a Virginia-based environmental services company that provides comprehensive environmental solutions to government agencies, businesses, and homeowners. The company offers a wide range of services including emergency response, site remediation, waste management, and more.

Matt Malone attended Hampden-Sydney College for their BA in Economics and then went on to the University of Glasgow for their MPhil in Finance.
