Michael Hopkins has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies. Michael started their career in 1991 with an apprenticeship at I.A.D UK Ltd, where they focused on bespoke component design using different materials. Michael then worked at RoMEC as a workshop craftsman, specializing in bespoke part design, CNC programming, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. In 1995, Michael joined Daewoo Motor Company as a design engineer, where they utilized Catia software to design BIW structures. Michael later became a junior CAD leader, managing a team of designers and producing prototype and production parts for hatchback rear structure. In 1999, Michael joined Group Lotus plc as a CAD designer, where they worked on B.I.W structures and eventually took on the role of lead DMU Verification Engineer, responsible for designing and implementing DMU processes, clash detection, and reporting to CAD designers, senior managers, and PMO.
Michael Hopkins attended Kingsdown High School from 1986 to 1991. Michael then went on to study Mechanical Engineering at North Brook College Worthing, where they obtained an O.N.C degree from 1991 to 1994.
