Renato Peñafiel Muñoz

Renato Peñafiel is CEO of Grupo Security and a Director at several Grupo Security subsidiaries, including Banco Security, Administradora General de Fondos Security and Vida Security.

Mr. Peñafiel joined Security Pacific Bank, Los Angeles, USA, in 1987 and was later co-founder of Grupo Security Chile following its purchase of Security Pacific Bank’s assets in Chile, when that bank decided to return to the USA.

During his career, he has held various executive positions, including Financial Policies Director at the Central Bank of Chile, International Manager at Banco Sudamericano and he is currently an active board member of the Asociación Chilena de Bancos e Instituciones Financieras (Chilean Association of Banks and Financial Institutions - ABIF), COMBANC and COMDER. The latter two companies support the execution of high-value transactions by Chilean banks, operating as a clearinghouse for local financial institutions.

He has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Business Administration Degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
