Gil Klinger has held various leadership positions in the defense and intelligence sectors throughout their career. Gil is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Guardian STS since March 2021. Prior to this, they served as the President of Gil Klinger Consulting, LLC, starting in July 2020. In this role, they provided consulting services in defense, intelligence, nuclear policy, and cyber topics. From mid-2017 to mid-2020, they worked as the Vice President for Space Programs at Raytheon Company. Before that, they held the position of Vice President for National Security Future Architectures at the Harris Corporation from mid-2015 to mid-2017. Earlier in their career, they served as a Visiting Distinguished Scholar at the National Reconnaissance Office in 2014, and as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space, Strategic, and Intelligence Systems in the US Department of Defense from 2009 to 2014. From 2005 to 2009, they worked as an Assistant Deputy Director in both the Collection and Acquisition Directorates at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Gil began their career as the Director of Space Policy at the National Security Council from 2002 to 2005.
Gil Klinger attended the University at Albany, SUNY from 1977 to 1981, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in European History and Political Science. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at the Harvard Kennedy School from 1982 to 1984, obtaining a Master's in Public Policy with a focus on Public Policy and National/International Security.
