Jon Meléndez Rey has a wealth of experience in research and development. Jon began their career in 2008 as a Technical Laboratory Technician in the Quality of Purchased Materials Department at Volkswagen Navarra. In 2009, they moved to CT Lurederra, where they incorporated nanoreinforcements into different plastic matrices, both at the roller and extrusion level, for subsequent property evaluation and development of nanoreinforced polymer injection works. Jon also provided consultancy and managed research and development projects for both external companies and technology acquisition projects of the Center. In 2012, they joined CIE Automotive as a Research and Development Technician. In 2013, they became a PhD Candidate at Tecnalia/University of Basque Country (EHU), where they developed Pd alloyed membranes for hydrogen separation and membrane reactor integration. In 2017, they became a PhD Researcher at TECNALIA Research & Innovation, where they designed, developed, demonstrated and optimized advanced hydrogen-selective membranes, taking the technology to higher technology readiness level (TRL). Currently, they are the Technical Director at H2SITE On-site production of hydrogen.
Jon Meléndez Rey completed their Licenciatura en Química from the University of Navarra from 2004 to 2009. Jon then went on to pursue a Máster en Ingeniería de Materiales Avanzados from the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea from 2011 to 2012, with a focus on research. In 2015, they had a brief stint at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Finally, they completed their Doctorado in Ingeniería de Materiales Avanzados from the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea in 2017.
