Andy Shields

Andy Shields has over 20 years of work experience in the software development and quality assurance field. Andy is currently working as a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test at Halcyon since 2022. Before that, they worked at Cylance Inc. from 2016 to 2022, where they served as a Principal Software Development Engineer in Test. At Cylance Inc., they gained experience in software development using Python, implemented RESTful API test frameworks, and provided expertise in reliability and performance testing. Prior to that, they worked at Multimedia Solutions as a Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer in 2015 and at DealerSocket as a QA Automation Engineer/Software Engineer from 2012 to 2015. Andy also has experience in leading roles, such as Lead Engineer at Tyco Fire & Security from 2011 to 2012 and Senior Lead Software Test Engineer (contract) at ARINC in 2011. Earlier in their career, they worked at Quest Software as a Quality Assurance Analyst II from 2001 to 2009, Tek Systems as an Oracle Client-Server Applications Developer (contract) in 2001, First American Software Solutions Group as a Senior Software Engineer from 1998 to 2001, and Wet Seal as a Senior Oracle Applications Developer from 1996 to 1998. Throughout their career, Andy has demonstrated strong skills in software development, automation, testing, and expertise in various programming languages and frameworks.

Andy Shields attended Santa Ana College from 1994 to 1997, where they studied Liberal Arts and Mathematics. Andy then transferred to California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from 1997 to 2002. Afterward, they enrolled at California State University, Long Beach, from 2002 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematics.
