Michael Vanderwerf

Michael VanDerWerf has a comprehensive work experience in the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries. Michael currently holds the position of Vice President Regulatory Affairs at Halozyme, Inc. Since 2017, they have been responsible for managing regulatory affairs and ensuring compliance. Prior to that, they worked as the Sr. Director of Regulatory Affairs at Halozyme, Inc. from 2017 to 2022.

Before their time at Halozyme, Inc., Michael worked as the Director of CMC Regulatory Affairs (Biologics) at Teva Pharmaceuticals starting from 2015. Michael also served as a Regulatory and Compliance Consultant to the Biotech and Medical Device Industries, providing regulatory guidance and support.

Michael's earlier experiences include leadership roles at Parenteral Drug Association, Organogenesis Inc., Shire Regenerative Medicine Division, GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, SAIC, Aventis Behring, and Cambridge Biotech Corporation. These roles gave him valuable expertise and insights in regulatory affairs, compliance, and strategic direction in the biotechnology and biologics field.

Michael VanDerWerf has a diverse education history. Michael obtained a Master's Degree in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University, which they pursued from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, from 1988 to 1991, Michael engaged in graduate-level coursework in Immunology and Government at the Harvard Extension School. Michael'sundergraduate education took place at the University of Minnesota, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Philosophy of Science in 1986.
