Cynthia Gill

Dean of Science at Hampshire College

Cynthia Gill is currently the Dean of Natural Science, Cognitive Science, and Critical Social Inquiry, and Professor of Public Health at Hampshire College. Cynthia has dedicated their career to studying behavioral neuroendocrinology and human physiology.

Dr. Gill started their career as a Biologist with The Nature Conservancy from 1988-1991. Cynthia then became a Postdoctoral Researcher and Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas at Austin from 1998-2005. While at UT Austin, they conducted groundbreaking research in behavioral neuroendocrinology and taught Human and Animal Physiology.

In their current role at Hampshire College, they are able to combine their passion for teaching with their dedication to research. Cynthia is also able to mentor students and help them develop into the next generation of leaders in the field of public health.

Cynthia Gill received their Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cynthia then went on to receive their High School Diploma in Biology from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Finally, they received their Doctor of Philosophy in Behavioral Neuroendocrinology from the University of Virginia.

Cynthia Gill reports to Omar S. Dahi, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. They work with Christina Cianfrani - Director of Teaching and Learning Initiatives, Zena Clift - Dean of Academic Support and Advising, and Laura Wenk - Director of Assessment.
