Anna-Karin Robertson has a diverse work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Anna-Karin is currently the Head of Research Alliances at Hansa Biopharma AB (publ) since February 2019. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Biology at the same company from September 2017 to February 2019. Before joining Hansa Biopharma AB (publ), Robertson was the Director of Discovery at Probi AB from August 2013 to June 2017. In this role, they defined and oversaw Probi's long-term probiotic research platform and contributed their scientific expertise to all of Probi's R&D projects. Anna-Karin was responsible for identifying collaborations with academic and industrial partners, negotiating contracts, and approving experimental strategy. Anna-Karin also held the position of Principal Scientist at BioInvent International AB from April 2009 to March 2013. Prior to that, they worked as a Project Leader and Assistant Professor at Karolinska Institutet from July 2008 to February 2009. Robertson also has experience as a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University School of Medicine from November 2004 to April 2008, where they conducted research on molecular immune regulation in autoimmunity and inflammation, specifically focusing on TGF-beta signaling in T cells. Anna-Karin began their career as a PhD student at Karolinska Institutet from September 1999 to November 2004, studying the role of adaptive immunity in the development of atherosclerosis. Anna-Karin also worked as a Research Fellow at Sahlgrenska Academy at Gothenburg University from August 1996 to July 1999.
Anna-Karin Robertson's education history begins with their studies at Stockholm University. From 1991 to 1996, they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Molecular Nutrition, Chemistry, and Immunology. Anna-Karin then pursued further education at Karolinska Institutet, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine from 1999 to 2004. Following their doctoral studies, Anna-Karin went on to attend Yale University School of Medicine for a postdoctoral associate position in Immunobiology, which lasted from 2004 to 2008.
