Aaron Parkening

Aaron Parkening has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Aaron currently holds the position of Software Engineering Manager at HappyCo, where they started in February 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as a Software Engineer at the same company from March 2022 to February 2023.

Before joining HappyCo, Aaron was involved with webmeadow, where they held multiple roles. Aaron started as a Co-Founder and Front-end Developer in 2005, building over 50 websites and driving increased website traffic and client satisfaction. Later, they became the Director of Project Strategy & Co-Founder in 2012, managing client relationships and projects for non-profit, financial, and municipal organizations.

In 2020, Aaron worked as an Associate Technical Architect at Acquia, contributing to projects as a lead frontend software developer and teaching Drupal skill-building workshops to clients. In 2011, they co-owned Artha Properties, LLC.

Aaron's early experience includes working as a Project Manager at A List Apart in 2014, where they developed and codified the magazine's internal processes. Aaron also worked as a Webmaster and Web Developer at Alexa Internet from 2000 to 2002, contributing to the development of web-based interfaces for the Internet Archive and the Alexa.com Site Info web platform.

Additionally, Aaron was a Technical Support Engineer at Calico Commerce, Inc in 1999.

Throughout their career, Aaron has demonstrated expertise in software engineering, project management, web development, and client relationship management.

Aaron Parkening completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, magna cum laude, from Cornell University in the years 1995 to 1999. In 1997, they also attended the University of Sydney to study Anthropology, although it is not specified if they obtained a degree from there.

In 2010 and 2011, Aaron obtained a Yoga Teacher Certification (RYT 200) from Rising Spirit Yoga.

In 2019 and 2020, they pursued a Full Stack Software Engineering: Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, and React program and received a Certificate from the Flatiron School.

Additionally, Aaron has obtained various certifications, including ITIL® Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in September 2016, Scrum Master Certified from SCRUMstudy - Accreditation Body for Scrum and Agile in September 2016, 3rd Dan Blackbelt from the World Taekwondo Federation in May 2014, and Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) from Yoga Alliance in June 2011.
