Alex Chipkin is a skilled conservation professional with extensive experience in the field of paintings conservation. Currently serving as the Richard I. Shader Fellow in Paintings Conservation at Harvard Art Museums, Alex specializes in the structural conservation of 14th and 15th century Spanish and Italian panel paintings. Previous roles include the Samuel H. Kress Fellow at Newfields, Technical Conservation Illustrator at Nicole Ryder Studio, and Paintings Conservator at the Saint Louis Art Museum. Alex's expertise is further demonstrated through internships and assistant positions at various prestigious organizations, including the National Trust, Houses of Parliament, and Mark Roberts Conservation. Alex holds a postgraduate degree in Conservation of Easel Paintings from The Courtauld Institute of Art and dual bachelor's degrees in Art History and Studio Art from Stony Brook University.
