Ken Peterson is the current Executive Director of the Baker Library at Harvard Business School. Prior to their current position, Peterson served as the Associate Librarian for Access and Collection Strategies at Dartmouth College from May 2018 to September 2021. In this role, they were responsible for managing cultural and practical changes to facilitate a pioneering, access-driven approach to collection development. Peterson also has a strong understanding of this philosophy both internally and externally, as well as identifying new and emerging open-access and digital resources of value to the College. Ken has also sought out additional mutually beneficial partnerships with other institutions and worked proactively to expand the depth and breadth of the information accessible to Dartmouth’s constituents.
From July 2010 to May 2018, Peterson served as the Director of Access Services at Harvard University. In this role, they were responsible for leading and developing Access Services for Harvard Library, as well as shaping the strategic direction for the storage, circulation, and collaborative lending and borrowing for the Harvard Library collection. Peterson also worked closely with library directors to deliver quality access services across Harvard’s libraries designed around the needs of the Harvard community. Furthermore, they played a key role in building coordinated collection services across Harvard University and led, shaped, and oversaw the work of staff engaged in providing services to the Harvard Library community to access research resources in many formats.
Ken Peterson pursued a certificate in leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians. Ken also holds a Master of Science in Library Science from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of New Hampshire.
