Maria Claret

Maria joined HLC in March 2021. She was previously a Schuman trainee at the European Parliament in the Subcommittee on Human Rights, dealing with human rights issues in the MENA region, the Gulf countries, and South America. Other previous personal experiences include living and studying Arabic in Cairo (Egypt) for a year and volunteering as an English teacher for Syrian refugees in Amman (Jordan). She has a strong interdisciplinary academic background, with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Management (UAB, Barcelona), a master’s degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic Language (SOAS, London), and a master’s degree in Migration Studies (UPF, Barcelona). Maria is a native of Spanish, Italian, and Catalan. She speaks fluent English and intermediate French and is proficient in Arabic, particularly the Egyptian dialect.
