Thoi Ong

Thoi Ong has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. They have held various roles in different companies, showcasing their expertise in platforms, DevOps, engineering, and technical consulting.

Thoi's most recent position is as an Engineer - Platform & DevOps at Haventec, where they started in 2023.

Prior to that, Thoi worked at Westpac from 2021 to 2023 as a Senior/DevOps Engineer - Tech Domain, Ent Risk, Compliance&Conduct. In this role, they built out DevOps capabilities and streamlined operational tasks using a wide range of technologies such as RHEL, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Chef.

From 2018 to 2021, Thoi was at icare NSW, initially serving as a Lead DevOps Engineer - Digital Practice and then as an Integration & Delivery Engineer - Digital Practice. In these roles, they led automation initiatives, optimized AWS hosting costs, and implemented continuous delivery processes, using technologies like Sitecore and SharePoint.

Thoi also worked at Cuscal Limited as a DevOps Engineer from 2017 to 2018, where they specialized in streamlining software installation and deployment processes for NPP and Fraud Analytic teams.

Before that, Thoi was a DevOps/Release Engineer at FIS/Clear2Pay from 2014 to 2017, responsible for DevOps Platform Engineering and Support, as well as server/VM/environment provisioning and project/application onboarding.

Thoi's career began at St George Bank/Westpac in 2007, where they served as a Technical Consultant Application, overseeing the software delivery process, build and deployment management, and capacity planning.

Prior to that, Thoi held roles as an IT Environment Administrator/J2EE System Administrator at St George Bank in 2006 and as an IT Specialist Consultant / Programmer Analyst at Qantas from 2000 to 2006.

Throughout their career, Thoi has gained extensive experience working with various technologies, such as Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, Oracle, AWS, and many others. Their expertise lies in DevOps, automation, system optimization, and software delivery processes.

Thoi Ong completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Monash University, from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, Thoi Ong obtained a certification as a Certified SAFe® 4 DevOps Practitioner from Scaled Agile, Inc. in August 2019.
