Philip McGilvray

Philip McGilvray has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Philip is currently working as the Associate Director of Discovery Platform at hC Bioscience, Inc. since February 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Lead Scientist and Co-Founder at 4SR Biosciences from September 2022 to February 2023. Before their entrepreneurial role, Philip worked as a Principal Scientist at NanoImaging Services from April 2020 to September 2022.

Philip'sacademic background includes positions at the University of Chicago, where they were a Postdoctoral Researcher from September 2019 to April 2020 and a Graduate Researcher from January 2014 to August 2019. During their time there, they purified novel human ribosome-membrane protein complexes and utilized cryo-electron microscopy for protein analysis. Additionally, they implemented a suspension cell culture system and acquired cloud-based storage resources for data processing.

Philip also had early work experiences at Siemens Healthcare as an Admin Functional Support I, and at Genzyme as a Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Intern in both 2011 and 2012. In addition, they worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from January 2013 to May 2013 and from October 2010 to May 2013, respectively.

Philip McGilvray earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Chicago, completing their studies from 2013 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, studying from 2009 to 2013. Philip'seducational journey began at Medway High School, where they obtained their High School Diploma from 2005 to 2009.
